ITI's owners have industrial experience in the area of non-destructive testing. The inspection device was invented and developed in the University of Waterloo by the founders. Maurice Dusseault as a founder has experience in starting and running three successful engineering businesses during the past 30 years in Canada. SeyedBijan Mahbaz as a founder has 10 years of experience in starting and running a successful engineering business during outside of Canada in an oil and gas NDT area. Based on the founders' industrial experiences, there is lack of reliable advanced NDT methods to detect corrosion and cracks in reinforced concrete structures; this is the main problem in the assessment of the condition of bridges and parking structures.
